Summer’s Full Bounty is in Bloom at Middletown’s Farm Market

Every Saturday from 8:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. local farmers and fruit growers set out a full array of their produce at 41 Railroad Avenue in Middletown.   (That’s the intersection of Railroad and Cottage Streets.)

Check out the video above to see just how good all the produce looks.

We’re lucky in Middletown to to be so near the black dirt growing area in Orange County where much of produce on sale comes from.   This being the height of summer the variety of different kinds of vegetables is amazing.   All the green and yellow squashes; the red, yellow, white and even blue potatoes; the big selection of peppers;  red, white and spanish onions,  various kinds of lettuce and all the trimmings for a wonderful salad.

Best of all each week new items appear as they grow in the fields and become ready for market.

For me it’s hard  walking through the stands and not buying everything.

In addition to the produce cookies, honey, and other natural products are offered.

This year the Farm Market runs until October 24.

The Farm Market is sponsored by the Middletown B.I. D. Business Improvement Program.   You can contact them at (845)-343-8075.   John Degnan, is the Director of the BID Program.
