Were they even thinking of the “Sandwich Generation” when they built this home?  If they weren’t then, many people with aging parents are now.

It does on saving on housing costs and sharing expenses.   It provides a sense of security and well being with someone always nearby just in case a need occurs.  Someone would be there check on cooking and daily eating.   Depending on the family setup and physical abilities sharing child care duties could be a possibility.

Yet the homes are private.  Allowing for independent living time as well.
